The ImagineNation™ Manifesto

As we completed the very last activities involved in launching ImagineNation’s™ new branding strategy and new website, there was a sense of deep accomplishment and interestingly, a sense of profound relief. Reflecting on the nine-month bewildering and illuminating learning and profound change journey designed to maximize peoples’ innovation potential, on the innovation roller-coaster ride, there was a lot to share, in what we appropriately developed and named The ImagineNation™ Manifesto.

Whether undertaking a new invention process, or a reinvention process, it is still a tough gig. Which is why so few people are willing to truly engage in either. So we are sharing our experiences with you, to authentically help you maximize peoples’ innovation potential, to achieve your innovation goals and to lead the way forward when on the innovation roller-coaster in the imagination age.

Re-invention – The ImagineNation™ Manifesto

This is because the range of challenges arising in the 21st Century and the Digital and Connected Ages demand that we both discover new possibilities and opportunities. As well as inventing innovative solutions to wicked, business problems and the biggest global challenges.  To provide increased value to users by re-inventing ourselves, our teams and our business to remain relevant and resourceful to our customers and clients, in ways they appreciate, value and cherish.

Our innovation roller-coaster ride commenced when we sat down initially, in November 2017, with the delightful Emily Seay, at Uberbrand.  A Sydney based brand strategy, design, and experience agency to workshop and articulate the new ImagineNation™ brand strategy. The intent was to re-invent and reposition ImagineNation™ in the global innovation consulting marketplace, to maximize peoples’ innovation potential, resulting in The ImagineNation™ Manifesto.

Our key challenges in the innovation roller-coaster ride

Some of the key challenges we raised in our creative conversations acknowledged that;

  • More people and businesses are feeling uncertain about the future and are currently blind to, or poorly enabled and equipped to address the new realities that are emerging.
  • Innovation is one of the most overused words in businesses today, yet to keep up with this changing world, business leaders have been told to innovate.
  • However, very few businesses really know what it means to be innovative. Instead, they are using short term, systematic and agile thinking processes to deliver incremental and not the disruptive changes that the new leadership and realities demand.

Our new thinking within The ImagineNation™ Manifesto

Involves disrupting the way people and businesses think about innovation.  Acknowledging that, in uncertain times, too many business leaders fall into doing what feels comfortable to them. As a result, they tend to hold tightly onto the status quo or seek episodic solutions to tick “innovation” off their “to-do” lists and waste their efforts in “innovation theater” rather than embedding deep learning and change processes that maximize peoples’ innovation potential.

Yet true innovation should & does feel uncomfortable.

Taking this into account, our intent, at ImagineNation™ which is reflected in our new website, is to educate the market on what it means to be innovative.

We are seeking to bridge the gap between the way people and businesses talk about innovation and how we, at ImagineNation™ talk about innovation and to communicate this in ways that are clear, consistent and convincing.

We are seeking to both assuage people’s and business natural and normal concerns whilst simultaneously challenging their habitual thinking and acting about innovation focussed change.

Our new positioning outlined in The ImagineNation™ Manifesto

At ImagineNation™ we help individuals, teams and organisations set and achieve their innovation goals by educating them on what innovation means. Then supporting them, on the innovation roller-coaster journey to foster a culture that maximizes people’s innovation potential and allows and enables it to happen.

Yet true innovation comes from people.

Humans have an endless ability to imagine, create, invent & innovate, however not many people have the competence, confidence, and capacity to do this.

By opening people up to their innovation potential we can enable individuals, teams, and businesses to innovate.

Because people matter

At ImagineNation™ we believe that people really, really matter as a valuable resource – that can help businesses and organizations survive, keep up with, and flourish in a rapidly changing and uncertain world. Because people have feelings, thoughts, dreams, experience, knowledge, skills and talent that can help businesses and organisations take advantage of the uncertainty and the amazing changes that are happening and will likely happen as the future continues to emerge.

Our vision, outlined in The ImagineNation™ Manifesto, is to help you, on your unique innovation roller-coaster journey to adapt, grow and co-create a world where innovation is a way of life.

Where innovation means unlocking peoples’ innovation potential through:

  • Letting go of old prescribed notions about what will work and what won’t.
  • Smart risk-taking and experimenting, yet many or most organizations are not currently set up for that.
  • Being open to the development of new hybrid mindsets.
  • Understanding why innovation is important and contextualizing it to your organizational context.
  • Taking a systemic, strategic and human-centered transformational culture development approach, involving leadership and blended learning journeys, aligned to technology.

We enable people to be, think and act differently, where people feel safe to, and have the courage to open their minds, hearts, and wills to cultivate learning agility and engage in the key phases of innovation.

We help to cultivate people’s creativity, compassion, and courage to collaborate to discover and embrace new ways of being, thinking and acting that results in great decisions and intelligent actions in the imagination age.

Why the innovation roller-coaster ride been so challenging for us

Whilst it may seem obvious now, it has involved a lot of good old-fashioned bravery and boldness in even embarking on such a journey and a deep sense of passionate purpose to fuel & sustain it.

It also involved unlocking our peoples’ innovation potential in ways that were:

  • Creative and curious when trusting others and also when exploring new ways of communicating ideas.
  • Courageous in being prepared and willing to take real risks and developing deep conviction when putting “skin” into the game.
  • Determined and persistent to stay in the reinvention game and being resilient especially when things went really wrong.
  • Compassionate and collaborative with all of the key players to get things done, no matter what.
